Students, staff, and alumni of St. Francis College, Otukpo, were overjoyed as they received a brand new set of musical instruments from the Chief Godwin Obla Foundation. The presentation took place in front of the entire school community, showcasing the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to elevating the learning standards at the prestigious institution.

Elder Michael Uba Obande, the Foundation’s Director General, emphasized that this generous donation was just one of many efforts by Chief Godwin Obla, SAN, to support his alma mater. Additional projects funded by the Foundation include the renovation and modernization of Chemistry, Physics, and Biology labs, the provision of state-of-the-art toilet facilities, a 5-million-naira Scholarship Scheme for underprivileged students, and the installation of solar lighting throughout the college premises.

Rev. Father Austin Ochai, the College Principal and an alumnus himself, expressed his gratitude towards Chief Godwin Obla for his philanthropic endeavors and encouraged students to keep him in their prayers. Members of the St. Francis Old Boys Association also attended the presentation, praising Chief Obla’s commitment to giving back to the community in various sectors, including judicial, educational, and health.

Vice Principal Simon Ajibo conveyed the school’s appreciation for Chief Obla’s generosity, while Headboy Master Lawrence Arugu revealed that many students now consider him their mentor.

Chief Godwin Obla’s passion for music, particularly the college’s musical marching band, played a significant role in his decision to attend St. Francis College Otukpo. Throughout his time at the school, he never missed an opportunity to enjoy the band’s performances during special occasions such as Children’s Day and Independence celebrations.
